During the WWII, aircraft became some of the most important assets for Allied air forces, as they carried out extensive raids throughout Europe as well as long-range strategic missions over the Japanese Islands, which ultimately ended the war. However, technology had come a long way from just a few decades prior, when, during WWI, military aircraft were in their infancy and the entire idea of using aircraft in warfare was fairly foreign.
