For Russian international tourists, a holiday is often code for going to a warm beach (before 2022 a Russian holiday could also include visiting the old architecturally beautiful cities of Western Europe). Today, Russian airlines are banned from European (and US and Canadian) airspace and all of Russia’s long-distance international flights in 2025 (over 5,000 miles) are to tropical destinations.
