The upgraded F-15EX Strike Eagle II arguably remains one of the world’s fighter jets in the air-to-air role (after the F-22 Raptor and even the F-35– which score a 20:1 victory rate during exercises). However, the United States is divesting many of its older F-15C/Ds; some were partially replaced with the limited-production F-22 while others are being replaced by F-35As and new F-15EX aircraft. Around 145 aging F-15C Eagles remain in service (along with around 218 F-15Es and a few F-15EXs). The remaining F-15Cs are expected to retire in the coming years.
