The General Electric GAU-8/A Avenger is a 30 mm seven-barrel autocannon installed onboard the United States Air Force (USAF) A-10 Thunderbolt II. The hydraulically-driven cannon is designed to deliver a high rate of fire, destroying a wide range of ground targets. Designed by General Electric, the type has been produced by General Dynamics since 1977.
