Turkey’s military aviation has taken another step in its development with its new TAI Hürkuş-II turboprop trainer flying for the first time. This comes after Turkey’s indigenous TAI KAAN multirole fighter jet flew for the first time in early 2024. Turkey is already a noted player in advanced drones or Uncrewed Aerial Vehicles ( such as the Bayraktar TB3 UCAV). Turkey appears set to play a more important role in advanced drone and light attack and military trainer aircraft (possibly even front line fighter jets depending on the outcome of the KAAN program).
