Beale Air Force Base: What To Know About The Home Of The U-2

United States Air Force Beale Air Force Base is home to the 9th Reconnaissance Wing (9 RW) – part of the Air Combat Command’s Sixteenth Air Force. The base and its host unit have operated some of the US’s most iconic spy aircraft that made history (and continue to make history). Beale Air Force Base is located in California around 40 miles north of Sacramento. Besides the 9th RW, the 940th Air Refueling Wing (940 ARW) flying KC-135 Stratotankers is also located at that base (they returned to the base in 1998).
