Two of the most specialized aircraft the United States Air Force operates for the United States President are the famous VC-25 (Air Force One) and the less famous E-4B Nightwatch “Doomsday” aircraft. Both of these extensively modified Boeing 747-200s are built so that the President and other upper echelons of the government can carry out their duties and command the nation and armed forces from the air. When we reported in February of this year that US President Donald Trump was touring a privately-owned Boeing 747-8, we somewhat thought this was just a publicity stunt to highlight that he wanted Boeing to move faster on the two VC-25Bs undergoing work to become the new pair of Air Force Ones.
