Romania has just signed a Letter of Offer and Acceptance to procure some 32 F-35A Lightning II fifth-generation fighter jets— the world’s most advanced and capable fighter jet. Romania is now the 20th member of the F-35 program and is another testament to just how successful the program has become ( despite its detractors saying manned fighters are heading to obsolescence—like Elon Musk). The F-35 has become a global enterprise, with most eligible US allies that could feasibly purchase the jet having done so.
