In recent years, the Bell-Boeing V-22 Osprey has had a problem with quality control for parts leading to safety standdowns. With catastrophic and fatal V-22 Osprey crashes caused by, in one case a hot gearbox and in several cases from a hard clutch engagement, and finally pinion gears disintegrated in at least one case. These manufacturing defects deny the vision of so many for the V-22 Osprey family.
