Airlines and airports spend enormous amounts of time planning and training for emergency situations that they hope will never actually occur but for which they must be prepared. In late October, Australia’s Sydney Kingsford Smith Airport gathered more than 200 personnel from 11 emergency services to test its emergency response processes.
