Airbus is more than the commercial passenger jet rival of Boeing, it is also one of the largest defense contractors in Europe producing military aircraft (including helicopters). Earlier Airbus announced it would cut 2,500 jobs from its Defense and Space Division. While the invasion of Ukraine has lead to more countries rearming, Airbus has struggled in the space sector as new entrants like SpaceX have overturned the market. A new Airbus report shows that while defense orders are up, its losses in the sector are also up.
