Almost every Western fighter jet has at least some British DNA – and nowhere is that more apparent than with ejection seats. Martin Baker has been making ejection seats since the earliest days, and today, it is one of only two Western companies making ejection seats for fighter jets (the other being Collins Aerospace). The top competitor for Martin-Baker’s seats is Collins Aerospace’s ACES 5 ejection seat. Additionally, Martin Baker manufactures what it calls “crashworthy” seats for helicopters (only the Russian K-52 Alligator attack helicopter is fitted with an ejection seat).
