After 2.5 years of war, the Ukrainian Air Force and its collection of aging Soviet jets have exceeded all expectations and withstood the Russian invasion and attempts to render its airfields inoperable. However, after years of grueling fighting, the Ukrainian Air Force has suffered massive attritional losses. While it is still operating, it is likely at a low point, having been worn down, and before replacement, Western aircraft start arriving in large numbers (only a few F-16s have been delivered so far).
