When used in aviation, bleed air refers to compressed air taken upstream from the fuel-burning section of a gas turbine aircraft engine. Compressed air is taken from the compressor stage of the engine to supply automatic air supply and cabin pressure controller (ASCPC) valves which bleed at various rates depending on whether the engines are at full power for takeoff or lower power when descending and landing.
