On October 21, the Japanese Ministry of Defense and the US Department of Defense announced that a US Navy F-35B STOVL fighter jet successfully landed on the deck of Japan’s JS KagaIzumo-class aircraft carrier (officially designated a multi-functional destroyer as Japan is forbidden to operate aircraft carriers). Simple Flying previously reported that the Kaga had made the first stage of her modifications to operate F-35Bs in April 2024.
