The 301st Fighter Wing has finally received its first F-35A Lightning II fifth-generation fighter jet. The F-35 is by far the most popular fifth generation fighter and the only one to have been widely exported – although the US refuses to sell the jet to many countries (including allies) around the world. With around 1,000 F-35s delivered, production is in full-swing and the United States Air Force is slowly, but surely, transitioning from older 4th generation fighter jets to the new F-35 fighter.
