After leaving Beetoomba, up trains from Cudgewa travelled 9.75 miles to the next station at Shelley. Here’s another nice shot by Geoff Winkler, capturing T413 leaving Shelley with a goods train heading for Wodonga. Also my shot at Shelley station, as found on 3 October 1989.
On top of the world, well, for the Victorian Railways anyway. At close to 2,580 feet above sea level, T413 powers over the crest as it departs Shelley, Victoria’s highest station, before the descent of the torturous grade to Bullioh. The goods was returning from Cudgewa, after a late morning departure on Wednesday, the 15th of March, 1978.
