GallopAir Launches With China Southern C909s: Sole COMAC C919 Customer Outside China

GalopAir, the only airline outside of China to have ordered the COMAC C919, launched its operations with a China Southern Airlines aircraft.

COMAC has already secured a preliminary agreement from Brunei-based GallopAir in September 2023.

China Eastern Airlines has filed the COMAC C919’s first scheduled services outside mainland China.

While the C919 airframe is Chinese-built, the engines and much of its avionics and flight control systems are Western-built.

The COMAC C919 is built with Chinese-Western joint ventures and would likely be vulnerable to hypothetical US sanctions.

China Eastern’s 9th C919 debuts onboard Wi-Fi, but Air China was first to integrate this feature, leading the way in domestic aviation tech.

Airbus, Boeing, and COMAC are set to compete for Vietnam Airlines’ order of 50 narrowbody jets in 2025.

The planes will operate for one of the airline’s subsidiaries.

COMAC strengthens its presence in Southeast Asia with new offices in Hong Kong and Singapore, boosting regional support for the ARJ21 and C919.
