IAG Abandons Air Europa Buy After Finding No Work Around To Regulator Objections

The International Airlines Group (IAG), which owns Aer Lingus , British Airways, and Iberia, among others, has announced it will abandon plans to acquire Air Europa, citing regulatory obstacles. In a statement, the company said that the deal no longer made financial sense. IAG already owns 20% of Air Europa, acquired back in August 2022. The plan was to take on the remaining 80%.
