Once travel restrictions were relaxed and ultimately removed in late 2023, the carriers based in Northeast Asia were quick to start rebuilding their international networks, and with its borders also open, Australia has been a popular destination for traffic to and from the region. The Mainland Chinese carriers have all returned, and Cathay Pacific is restoring its services to pre-pandemic levels, helped along by Friday's announcement that its flight between Hong Kong and Perth will be daily.
