Yesterday marked the 82nd anniversary of the beginning of the Battle of Midway, one of the most decisive naval battles in history, the battle in which the United States Navy (USN) turned the tide against the Imperial Japanese Navy (IJN) in the Pacific Theatre of the Second World War. The battle concluded two days later, coincidentally predating D-Day by exactly two years.
