United Airlines CEO Scott Kirby expressed interest in establishing a hub at Miami International Airport (MIA), but to do so he would need access to between 40 and 50 gates. This would require fierce bargaining with longtime Miami carrier, American Airlines, which currently dominates operations at the Florida airport.
