The Marrickville Golf Club in Albanese’s Sydney electorate was the only golf club nationwide to get funding under the government’s $560 million community infrastructure program, which directed most money to Labor seats.
Critics highlight Albanese’s long-held but undeclared honorary membership and demand his resignation, comparing it to past scandals where officials stepped down over smaller undeclared interests.
Albanese says he was unaware of the ongoing membership, doesn’t play golf, and defends the grant to fix sewage issues flowing into the Cooks River during floods.
The matter has fueled parliamentary and public questions about grant transparency and accountability.

It was just revealed that he owns a multimillion dollar investment property a few doors down from Marrickville Golf Club.
The Club had a sewage issue, and the smell was upsetting house prices in the area. Albanese’s included.
Albanese handed the Club, that he is a member, over $6 million dollars, no questions asked.
He then lied about it. And continues to do so.
Don’t expect accountability as the speaker of the house, Milton Dick, just ruled the question about this out of order.
