Democratic Republic of Congo, Haiti, Iran, Iraq, Somalia, Sudan, Syria, and Yemen, arguing these high-risk areas threaten Australia’s security amid a ‘probable’ national terrorism threat level. Political commentator Ryan Dally noted over 98,000 arrivals from such countries in the past year, about 15 percent of total migration, while the proposal draws both support as common-sense policy and criticism over humanitarian impacts.
Hanson also gained Senate backing for an inquiry into her bill targeting foreign terrorist fighters.
