The Mikoyan-Gurevich MiG-21 is a Russian-built supersonic fighter jet and interceptor aircraft designed by the Mikoyan-Gurevich Design Bureau in the Soviet Union. The aircraft first flew in 1955 and entered the Soviet Air Forces in 1959. Nearly 70 years after its first flight, the type is still operated by several global air forces.
