Kazakh mineral fertilisers have found their way onto the Middle Corridor. KTZ Express, Kazakh Railways’ multimodal international logistics subsidiary, organised the export of fertilisers to the UK.
The fertilisers originate from Ekibastuz, in the north of Kazakhstan. KTZ Express organised the shipment in containers along the Middle Corridor via both rail and maritime infrastructure. The route leads through Kazakhstan, the Caspian Sea, Azerbaijan and Georgia. From the latter’s ports Poti and Batumi, the fertilisers continue their journey to the British port of Felixstowe via sea.
“The new route expands export opportunities for domestic manufacturers by providing access to the UK market”, says KTZ Express. “The use of the Middle Corridor guarantees competitive delivery times, a diversification of transport routes and growth in the sustainability of global supply chains.”
KTZ Express goes beyond the UK
KTZ Express is expanding its logistical horizons. Earlier, the company organised shipments of products from Ekibastuz to Miami. It offers logistics services from Kazakhstan to the USA, UK, Belgium, Poland and Czechia, among other destinations.
Diversification away from established trade routes is a big motivating factor for the development of the Middle Corridor. For Kazakhstan, the introduction of such services also boosts the country’s own export capacity. This, according to KTZ Express, solidifies the position of Kazakhstan as one of the key transport and logistics hubs of Eurasia.
