Unknown cigar-shaped object spotted during an Arctic cruise

The witness said the sighting occurred on May 8, 2026, during an Arctic graduation trip. While traveling by boat, she was scanning the coastline through high-powered binoculars when she noticed an unusual object.

According to her report, she held the binoculars in her left hand while attempting to record the view through the eyepiece with her phone in her right hand. The object appeared as a long, dark, horizontal structure over or near the water, with mountains or ice formations in the background.
She described it as black, solid-looking, and resembling a large “cigar.” According to the witness, it had visible thickness and maintained the same shape as the boat continued moving. She did not observe any wings, navigation lights, smoke, wake, or changes in its appearance, and she said it did not resemble a reflection or a mirage.
The object’s identity has since become the subject of considerable debate. Some observers believe it could be a cigar-shaped UFO, while others suggest it may have been an experimental sail-less submarine, noting the apparent absence of a conning tower. However, neither explanation has been verified.
Despite the many theories, the true nature of the object remains unknown, adding to the long list of unusual sightings and unexplained phenomena reported in the Arctic.
