Siemens’s Goole Charity Cricket Day passes £100,000 fundraising milestone

Siemens Mobility has celebrated another successful Charity Cricket Day in Goole, with the fourth annual tournament raising £32,000 for local charities and taking the event’s cumulative total past the £100,000 mark since its launch in 2023.

Aglaja Schneider, joint CEO and managing director, rolling stock and customer services at Siemens Mobility UK&I, said:

“The Goole Charity Cricket Day continues to demonstrate the incredible generosity and community spirit of our colleagues, customers and partners. Reaching the milestone of more than £100,000 raised since the event began is a fantastic achievement and one that everyone involved should be proud of.

“While the day is built around some friendly sporting competition, its real purpose is supporting organisations that make a genuine difference to people’s lives. We remain committed to investing not only in the future of rail manufacturing in Goole, but also in the communities that help our business thrive.”

The event brought together teams from Siemens Mobility, Angel Trains, West Midlands Trains, Wabtec, KBRS, Porterbrook, Rock Rail, and Shorterm Group, who competed for the charity trophy while raising vital funds for community organisations across the town and surrounding areas.

This year’s funds will be shared among eight local organisations: Goole Youth Action, A Shining Light, Goole Amateur Boxing Club, Helping Others, Two Rivers Pantry, Wheels for All – Goole, Friends of Oakhill, and Friends of West Park.

As the home of Siemens Mobility’s Rail Village and train manufacturing facility, Goole remains at the heart of the company’s commitment to creating long-term social value. The Charity Cricket Day forms part of a wider programme of community engagement, volunteering and charitable support across the region.

Councillor Anne Handley, Leader of East Riding of Yorkshire Council, said:

“Surpassing £100,000 in fundraising over four years is a remarkable milestone, and the positive impact these donations have on local charities cannot be overstated. Siemens Mobility continues to make a significant contribution to Goole through its investment, outreach activities and community partnerships.”
