With its primary airport running out of room, the city of Miami could receive a second airport under new plans by Miami-Dade County officials. In a “State of the Ports” meeting on Monday, the county commission advanced a proposal for a second Miami airport to ease the burden on Miami International Airport (MIA), which has reached 80% of its airfield capacity.
