A model aircraft store has told Australian Aviation it has seen a surge in demand since the stricken airline called in administrators last week, with a significant portion of sales from the carrier’s base on the Sunshine Coast.

In past reporting we’ve discussed how Lufthansa’s new Boeing 787s, fitted with the new Allegris cabins, are unable to legally seat passengers in certain business class seats due to delays in being officially certified by the FAA.Rather than let the aircraft sit on the ground waiting for approval, the German carrier opted to have the seats installed and have the aircraft enter service. While awaiting approval, those specific uncertified business class seats would be blocked off.
