NACC Clears Morrison in Robodebt Scandal, Finds Mid-Level Corruption

Australia’s National Anti-Corruption Commission cleared former Prime Minister Scott Morrison and three senior officials of corrupt conduct in the Robodebt scandal, but ruled that mid-level public servants Mark Withnell and Serena Wilson intentionally misled others about the unlawful income-averaging method used from 2015 to 2019.

The scheme issued about $1.8 billion in debts to 380,000 to over 500,000 people, leading to severe distress including at least two suicides, as found by the 2023 Royal Commission.

No charges will follow due to insufficient evidence for criminal proof, though Morrison welcomed the outcome as vindication while critics like Greens Senator Barbara Pocock called it a lack of accountability.

  1. Just reported on #ABCNews, RoboDebt six basically all cleared by NACC. Two of the junior players slapped on the wrist but no charges, Scotty from marketing cleared completely. Total bullshit. NACC loses what little credibility it still had at this point.

So no one is to blame.
