Australian ISIS Families’ Convoy Blocked on Road to Damascus

The convoy of 24 to 34 people from 11 families left Al-Roj camp under Kurdish escort on Monday, but turned back after blocks by Syrian forces amid shifting regional tensions.

These women, partners of ISIS fighters, and their children have been held there since 2019; camp officials urged repatriation to protect kids from radical influences.

Australia’s government denied involvement, vowing no returns from Syria and full legal action for any crimes, while past repatriations in 2022 involved careful security screening.
