Pauline Hanson Returns to Senate, Pushes Coalition Alliance

Hanson, leader of One Nation, served a seven-sitting-day suspension from November 2025 for wearing a burqa into the chamber to protest the garment.

On her return Thursday, she proposed confidence-and-supply support to the Liberal-National Coalition to challenge the Labor-Greens government before the 2028 election.

Liberal MP Zoe McKenzie rejected the idea outright, citing policy gaps, while polls show One Nation surging amid voter frustration with debt and living costs.

The exchange underscores deepening fractures on Australia’s political right.
