Picture this: you just took off from your local airfield for a joyride onboard a tiny aircraft that belongs to you or your aircraft. You reach your cruising altitude of 10 to 15,000ft. Everything is going smoothly until your engine suddenly stops. There are no airfields nearby. This is the worst-case scenario that every private pilot dreads. Of course, as part of your PPL, you would be trained to glide the aircraft and plan on doing so.
