The turboprop, registered VH-8QD, will operate alongside NJE’s eight-strong Embraer E190 fleet in the west, and comes as the carrier plans to add at least two more E-Jets to its fleet this year.
The airline currently operates 24 round trips per week from Perth to Mt Keith and Perth to Leinster on behalf of BHP Nickel West, effectively occupying two of its Fokker 100 aircraft full-time.
The news of VH-UJK’s departure is a significant blow to the carrier’s hopes of being able to quickly restart operations if it finds a buyer, given the global lack of larger aircraft post-COVID-19.
