PSA and Logtainer to take over Padua intermodal terminal

PSA will soon operate the intermodal terminal in Padua, one of the busiest inland facilities in Europe. The logistics giant won the tender in a consortium with Logtainer, an Italian multimodal transport operator last month and has now presented the plan to develop the terminal.
The PSA-Logtainer partnership invested 75 million euros in the initiative, which will see the formation of a new joint venture: Intermodal Terminal Padova. Interporto Padova, the company selling the assets, will maintain a 30% stake in the new entity. The last step now entails getting the final approvals from local authorities.

The Padua intermodal terminal

The intermodal facility in Padua plays a strategic role for the logistics of northern Italy and more. In a recent report, it was placed sixth among all inland intermodal terminals in Europe, second in Italy behind Verona. Its location makes it an important hub for connections to the main Italian ports: Genoa, Trieste, Livorno, Gioia Tauro and many more. Internationally, the terminal has links to the Netherlands and Germany and, as of this month, Belgium.
