Helrom concludes insolvency and establishes new HRG subsidiary

Intermodal rail operator Helrom has concluded the insolvency proceedings that began in the summer of 2025. A Frankfurt court approved the insolvency plan as legally binding. Helrom was recapitalised and now has a new corporate structure.
Majority shareholder HRG has expanded the pool of investors and has provided Helrom with additional capital, the intermodal operator explains. For that purpose, it established Helrom Holding Limited as a subsidiary of HRG. Helrom does not mention a takeover by a new owner, but says that it is changing its corporate structure to facilitate recapitalisation.

The Greenbrier Companies, Inc., a global leader in freight wagon manufacturing and leasing, as well as Deutsche Anlagen Leasing (DAL) and Société Générale participate in the new structure, according to Helrom. Those companies have been among the “most important collaborators” for some years and will “continue to support the company industrially and financially”.

Major challenge

”The past months have been a major challenge for the entire company”, commented Roman Noack, CEO and co-founder of Helrom. ”All the more important is the fact that we can now look ahead on a financially strengthened basis and with a stable structure. Our focus is clearly on the operational business: reliable connections, high service quality, and the consistent shift of transports to rail.”

Besides its recapitalisation and corporate restructuring, Helrom created the foundation for further development of its business model “in a stable and scalable manner”, the company says. It emphasises that it will continue to provide intermodal transport solutions and innovate as a technology company.

”My special thanks go to our employees”, CEO Roman Noack added. ”During a period of great uncertainty, they took responsibility, stood together and kept the business running. Over the past months, our customers, suppliers and stakeholders also demonstrated strong loyalty to our company. In this crisis, I have seen how strong and reliable the support of our partners is.”
