On December 17th, Finnair announced the expansion of its long-haul network with an Autumn 2026 launch of flights to Melbourne, Australia next autumn. The route will be operated daily via Bangkok with an Airbus A350.

The European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) has certified a new A350-900 engine variant. The aircraft type, which exclusively uses the Rolls-Royce Trent XWB-84, now has an Enhanced Performance (EP) variant. Airbus states that this Enhanced Performance capability is set to deliver one percent lower fuel consumption, which will provide airlines with a reduction in operating costs and emissions.
