As the A340 gets ever older and rarer, Lufthansa stands out as a surprisingly large operator of the quadjet. Indeed, the Cologne-based Star Alliance founding member and German flag carrier presently has both the smallerAirbus A340-300 and the larger A340-600 at its disposal, even though many of its fellow European legacy operators have long since said goodbye to these models.
