Why The US Space Force Is Having Trouble Getting Air Guardsmen To Join

The Air National Guard (ANG) is a federal military reserve force of the Air Force and the state air militia. Some of its guardsmen are involved in space-related work that the Department of the Air Force has decided would be better integrated with the Space Force. According to the Air and Space Forces Magazine, a proposal to transfer Air National Guardsmen to the Space Force has been criticized. The Department of the Air Force is pushing Congress to adopt the plan. However, Air National Guardsmen have called the proposal an “existential threat” to the Guard.
