Father Charged for Nazi Tattoos on Newcastle Beach After Terror Attack

Andrew Marc Laszlo Lorant, 36, from Urunga, faces up to 12 months in prison for allegedly displaying Nazi symbols via tattoos at Bar Beach on December 24.

Police arrested him at home on December 27 under NSW’s 2023 law banning public Nazi symbols without excuse, after Ben Parsons photographed the tattoos while with his children and alerted authorities.

The case, coming two weeks after the Bondi Beach attack that killed 15, has drawn criticism for focusing on the tattoos amid Islamist terror concerns, while Parsons defends reporting to fight racism and foster unity.

Premier Chris Minns backs enforcement to stamp out hate.
