Tom Silvagni jailed for six years and two months after rape conviction

Tom Silvagni, the son of high-profile former AFL star Stephen Silvagni, has been sentenced to six years and two months in jail after being found guilty of two counts of rape.

Silvagni, 23, was sentenced to a non-parole period of three years and three months at Victoria’s County Court this morning.

Silvagni’s has already served 12 days of pre-sentence detention.

Sentencing judge Gregory Lyon acknowledged the “psychological and emotional trauma” of Silvagni’s victim when handing down his sentence.

Judge Lyon also noted that Silvagni had suffered from a major depressive disorder in the time preceding and after his conviction.

He described Silvagni’s prospects of rehabilitation as “very good” but said Silvagni had not demonstrated any remorse.
