It was the deadliest air crash in the history of aviation. Two fully loaded Boeing 747 aircraft collided on a runway on March 27th, 1977. The accident occurred when a departing KLM Boeing 747 began its takeoff run, only to notice a Pan Am Boeing 747 taxiing on the same runway.
