President Donald Trump attended the Washington Commanders’ game against the Detroit Lions at Northwest Stadium in Landover, Maryland, on Sunday, the first sitting U.S. president to do so for a regular-season NFL matchup since 1978.
During halftime, he swore in military recruits amid boos from parts of the 60,000-strong crowd and cheers from supporters, while receiving a custom jersey from team owner Josh Harris.
The event, part of the NFL’s Salute to Service honoring veterans, saw the Lions win 44-22, with online reactions divided along political lines.
