ATSB investigating light aircraft crash at Shellharbour Airport

A Piper PA-32R Cherokee Lance aircraft, carrying three people, crashed and caught fire on take-off at the airport on Saturday, October 11. All three people on board were fatally injured.

The OneSKY-CMATS system, which aims to unify air traffic management across Australia’s civil and military airspace, is slated to go live in the third quarter of 2027, with controllers to be trained on the new equipment starting in March next year.

Under the three-year deal with Airways International, the commercial arm of Airways New Zealand, Airservices will trial the TotalControl mobile training simulator, including Airways staff acting as pilots for remote instruction.
