I was observing the Swan Hill 07:39 shunted in by Y156 with VN14
- 07:05hrs loco haul being prep for the service on 5A Swan Hill 07:39 and noticed the Warrnambool service at 6A which departed 07:26
- VLocity no. 1251 3 car unit stand waiting at 6A and passenger currently boarding
- 07:14 I couldn’t help noticing amongst the racket around the railcar at the station it sounded pretty rough regular spiking frequency was heard in what it seem located from it’s moving parts within in the railcar.
- As to me in my opinion, it didn’t sound normal and it sounded sick!
- 07:25 Loco 453 shunts in to be coupled up
- As at the SAME time the doors was disarmed and I was boarding BZN258 on VN14 with the passengers when I noticed things took a weird turn!
VL no. 1251 next me on 6A for Warrnambool had been taken out of service!
from my window I saw the failed Vlocity on 6A was promptly taken away and now 1144VL taken it’s place!
I saw the passengers luggage , conductor and leaving the railcar at platform 6A.
- some passengers was standing next or beside the older train and some past my window of the carriage whist waiting for departure the Swan Hill service on 5A
- After their crew prep the train replacing the other prompt boarded the passengers the Warrnambool service left late.
Whist train I was onboard suffered a intermittent external door fault was promptly rectified on site!
As crew often reset something in locking mechanism or isolate it to resolve it!
More trains services came in and we had wait for bit before departure as it was peak hr as we left at 07:57 etd
The Advice from V/Line of the delays didn’t hit their website until 09:36!
Why was there a lag until the advice came out on their website and on that day on X account of V/Line there was no mention of it?
On route I could see passengers all standing/waiting for train services to and from Southern Cross both directions on the Bendigo Line etc!
I saw VN17 on the return from Bendigo at Castlemaine arrive Bendigo 10:23
11:23 notification came out from V/Line:
Services are currently delayed at Footscray due to a bridge strike at Footscray.
Further travel advice to follow.
When this happen a bridge is struck N,SW, W and NE service can be impacted by the bridge strike, what a mess!!!
Is this Montague Bridge Mk2? As It seems like it!
Pulled in 12:53 Swan Hill and the crew prep the train for it return and pushed for time.
I notice the BRN AG or auxiliary generator sounded not normal as I noticed intermittent jagged sound in moving parts within ie: regular spikes whist operating!
VN10 left Swan Hill on time 13:35 and arrive back 18:15 3B the Y class appeared ready to shunt it to the yard as soon we got off the train!
Conclusion
It seemed I was correct about Warrnambool VoLcity and what I heard that seemed very abnormal, it was defective and failed.
As for the loco haul service on board VN10 she was suffering a few electrical issues on route.
I can say I saw what I think is N12 was off the public service for while and now is she having repairs at Bendigo?
VN10 was seen from VN17 at 1/10 in Nth Melb Yard as got that set again 5/10
I was happy they fixed those temperamental communication doors in the train being a issue with train since 24/9!
- Info was the delayed service was a result of Trespasser delaying the train services at the morning pack to and from Bendigo
- The bridge strike Footscray would of made things harder for the control to manage the train movements in and out that area in V/Line and the knock effect lasted for few hours after
That day was rough day for all involved that day…
I will say the have some very odd stuff happening latey.
