Severe disruption for Gloucester train services for nine days

IEP 800003 "Queen Elizabeth II" passes Horton Road Crossing on the approach to Gloucester on a test run from Swindon on 15th August 2017. The test runs this week were the first visit of the class over the Stroud Valley line from Swindon to Gloucester. As a coincidence, 5 minutes earlier HST power car 43027 "90 Glorious Years" departed on the 08.49 to Paddington. Train services through Gloucester will be severely disrupted from 27th September until 5th October, because of upgrading the Gloucester signal box.

Network Rail is advising passengers to check before travelling later this month, as services will be disrupted as it replaces more than 10,000 wires in Gloucester signal box.
