U Mobile taps Sacofa to provide fibre backhaul for 5G in Sarawak

Digitel South Sudan has launched what it says is the first 5G trial in the country, which it hopes can help address the digital divide in South Sudan where the majority of people remain unconnected.

Indian state-owned telco BSNL’s recently issued 5G tender has reportedly been poorly received by potential bidders – particularly by Ericsson and Nokia, who are unhappy with BSNL’s plan to use only indiginous gear to build the network.

Vietnam’s Ministry of Information and Communications (MIC) has reportedly opened its long-waited 5G spectrum auction to all players, starting with the 2500-2600 MHz band, with more bands to follow in the coming days.
