Why Might The World’s Most-Efficient Single Aisle Aircraft Have Boeing Worried?

Boeing has good reason to be concerned about the Embraer E195-E2. This aircraft is positioned to effectively target the bottom end of the single-aisle aircraft market by providing airlines in search of narrowbody capabilities with superior unit economics. The Brazilian manufacturer behind the aircraft, Embraer, recently upgraded the aircraft in order to reduce fuel burn by a further 2.5%, making the aircraft more than 12% more efficient than industry rivals.
