Airlines regularly pull out of airports, which happens for multiple reasons. Performance might be lower than anticipated, so aircraft are moved to where the opportunity will hopefully be better. They may serve another airport nearby, enabling them to consolidate, thereby saving money and reducing complexity. They may pull out as a negotiating tactic over fees/charges (this is more common in Europe), an operator may cease trading, and more.
